You can find us in front of the Red Sculpture at World Train Center PATH Train entrance. Look for me on a Blue bike with a Eurohypo t-shirt. I will bring some red ballons (Nena would approve) so you can find me.

The New York City 5 Borough Bike Tour is the largest recreational cycling event in America!
Join 30,000 cyclists for the ultimate tour of this great biking town.

The event is very popular and tons of fun. If you're new to New York it is a great opportunity to see all the major neighborhoods.
The route is approximately 42 miles / 68 km, but it's not as bad as it sounds. I'm not that fit but I had no problem doing the entire route last year.
By the way this is a tour not a race, so we can go at our own pace.

How to attend:
Registration has already closed, but if you're registered with Bike New York, you can still join the group.
http://www.bikenewyor...
Bicycle rentals are available at http://www.metrobicyc...
by calling 718-665-6600

What to bring:
- In the mail you will receive a vest with your registration number, this vest must be worn at all times.
- A helmet must also be worn at all times.
- bring at least 1 liter of water and some snacks
- money for food and beverages at the rest stops
- a full stomach, I recommend eating a large breakfast before this Meetup.
- Identification, emergency contact and insurance information (hey you never know)

What about lunch?
We will stop for a lunch 30 minute lunch break at the ConEdison Center in the back of the building near the water front. I'm not sure when because it depends on how fast or slow we are but it will probably be around 12:30.

Other FAQs:
Yes, I will still come if it rains.
An interactive route map can be found here: http://www.bikenewyor...
There are bike repair stations at every rest stop, but I will also bring an emergency repair kit.
Please buddy up with one other person on the day of the event, so we can look out for each other more effectively.
Please email me (AmyS, your assistant organizer) your cell phone number and emergency contact info before the day of the event.
I will email a phone list before the day of the event.
This is a family friendly event.
You must wear a helmet to this event, but most importantly let's just have fun.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Amy

I thought this was a fantastic meetup -- I had so much fun! And it was very memorable. I'll definitely do it again next year, if people are up for it!

As far as bringing snacks: this even is every year well underwritten. You will get plenty of water and snacks at the rest areas. There will be four of them. I think, one bottle of water at the start should do.
